Mike Dignam and WORK ONCE AGAIN

So if you haven't heard of Mike Dignam youtube him or myspace or facebook him now he is awesome. He kinda combines acoustic, soul and pop into one new style that really works. I saw him live a while back now and his live shows are awesome as well. He does covers mainly nowadays (The most recent of these is the amazing Finders Keepers one), but has a new album out soonish i believe with Gabrielle Aplin who is also amazing! Buy his old album it will be the best invested fiver you have ever spent! Anyways enough tonguing for one day just check him out. I made an album cover for the sessions he does on youtube if you wish to download some of it. Its at the top and unfortunately a bit small so sorry about that :).

Getting back to the topic of myself, i am drowning in a pile of work and stress, and going on facebook, msn etc. isn't helping in the slightest. Once this and the exams are out of the way i am going on some nice relaxation methinks. So i leave you with the soothing sounds or Mr. Dignam still ringing in my head, enjoy x

Rentoutumiseen, Tolstoy and Picasso.

Today was as the title suggests in Finnish (Which i guarantee you didn't know that before today), today was relaxing. Well i got up to a couple of letters, no like 3 and that's the most post I've ever got in one day i think. I opened it to find a missive of disappointment which to be honest i expected, i didn't win the song competition. I wish i could say i tried my best but i didn't i was just using it as an excuse to do no music for three months i guess. So instead of getting sad, angry or well generally emotional i just decided I'd do something new today so i started war and peace and i must say its long and complicated. I'm like 35 pages in i think and already there's been about 5 families mentioned. Its a good read though and the description is immense. Then i moved onto coursework and I've more or less finished it, I've only got a few pieces of coursework left now so hopefully I'll finish them this weekend although i won't have much time tomorrow. At the moment I'm listening to Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of The Moon and its not too bad, its good instrumentally but its a bit bluesy for my liking. You have to be in the right mood for it. I might go back to the ABBA soon ;). Anyways I'm off to find something to do tonight other than sit here, wish me luck because i will seriously need it there's like nothing. x
P.S. i've realized this blogs about art in general really so to add to the art theme i found a really nice painting today unintentionally when looking for a pic to put at the top of the blog. Picasso's The Old Guitarist . It's the picture above :)

Coursework, Music and Literature (FUNFUNFUN)

I think i should get down to some cw and i don't know why i'm sharing this with nobody but yeah i just think i should tell someone then it gives me a commitment. I mean seriously like 1 month left of school to get it done in reality. So yeah that's the first thing; well more of an outburst. Then moving onto maybe the more pressing issue of music at the moment. I thought i'd share on of my aims in life. Sad as it is i want to get 5000 songs on my itunes at some point and torrents helped me to boost mine recently. I'm now on 3236 and music is basically my life. I guarantee everyone will find a song they like on my itunes. I'm still downloading some more dubstep and now some ABBA is being added. Don't ask why because i barely know myself but that doesn't matter its catchy and happy and unique unlike most of the stuff today. My weekend is looking good i guess, filled with the coursework i regretfully neglected over the course of the last month. And i still have my Frankenstein to read before my English exam and page 36 isn't looking good. I did however get a quote from this book that i love and i guess applies to my coursework at the moment i guess it will motivate me more. "Success shall crown my endeavors". I mean so far its a great read, challenging, but great. I can understand why its regarded so highly it just gives you that feeling of awe and satisfaction after reading it. I'm reading it at such a slow pace however i think it will be finished this time next year. Anyway ciao x

Dubstep!

Like an hour after my first ever post i thought I'd share with you the musical form that is dub-step. I've only just really got into it but i thought before i download the music and listen to it I'd learn a little bit about it so i went on my wiki to see its background. The musical aspect of dub-step interested me the most (being a musician to some degree). Anyways i'll add a few videos to this post of the best remixes i found and the songs that i found. I also made some album art to put to the songs i downloaded as most of them are white label or even not released, I'll be adding it to my facebook soon probs or here if i figure out how XD. If you want to get into dub-step i suggest looking at skream first then Mt. Eden dub-step and quantum dub-step. Skream kind of pioneered dub-step and the others do various compilations and remixes. Someone i'm also liking today is Enter Shikari and their older stuff off "Take To The Skies" it's all amazing, Anyways i hope you enjoy.

First Post!

Yeah i saw a film called 'Julie and Julia' and it had something about blogging in it so that's the reason i started. I spend like far too much time on the computer and i guess i can share with whoever wants to know like websites and ideas i experience. I love quotes and Oscar Wilde once said "I am not young enough to know everything.", and i think this is such a lovely quote :), that's what i found out today at least.
